About Withers tech

Following the recent opening of our Boston office, which also signified the launch of our Withers tech brand in the US, we are now looking to hire ambitious candidates looking to help grow a tech and innovation focused legal practice on a national and international basis.

Our experts operate out of the firm’s core territories in Europe (London, Cambridge and Milan), the US (San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Boston), and APAC (Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo), offering a global solution to clients seeking to scale and expand internationally. 

In April of 2021, the Firm expanded its international Withers tech practice into Boston with the addition of a new team of emerging growth company attorneys specializing in life sciences and transatlantic venture capital.  The team represents clients from start-up to late stage.

Having been established with the mission of supporting and driving the growth of the innovation economy, Withers tech is responsible for driving forward the convergence of innovation and technology with other practice areas within Withersworldwide.  Our lawyers support firm-wide global initiatives addressing the rapidly changing landscape of 'traditional', long-established sectors which historically have been slower to adopt innovation such as Real Estate, Hotels & Hospitality, Fashion & Luxury Brands and Sports. The Role

Withers tech is strategically growing in the US and looking to add new members to its corporate and venture capital team in either Boston or New York.  You will take an active role on core transatlantic venture capital work (NVCA, BVCA, SAFE etc.), as well as supporting the wider corporate team within the firm. 

With this role, you will act for a range of national and international clients, from entrepreneurs embarking on their first company and scientists spinning out innovative research ideas from universities, to seasoned and serial founders and investors in the transatlantic/international venture capital community and mature companies.  The role will also provide you the opportunity to drive forward a particular sector or area that is your passion within our expanding global practice and take advantage of the exciting opportunity to be a part of our strategic growth across EU, APAC and US.

Withers tech is looking for ambitious associates driven to specialize in this key and increasingly central sector of the economy.  We are eager to meet candidates who share our energy and excitement for this area of work, and who are looking to take the next step in their careers and develop their own practice as part of a growing and international venture capital team.

Key skills and experience

• Strong academic qualifications; JD required
• Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience
• Admitted to and in good standing with the Massachusetts or New York bar
• Broad training in a well-regarded Corporate department
• Excellent technical ability and solid drafting skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate and handle client contact (both internal and external) from the outset
• Effective team player - able to work effectively in an established, close-knit team
• An enthusiastic and engaged attitude with excellent people skills and a good, clear communication style
• A willingness to take responsibility and ability to form strong working relationships across all areas of the practice
• A commercial and pragmatic outlook
• Familiarity with technology
• Keen interest in Business Development and helping to maintain and grow client relationships
• A passion for tech and innovation
