The Department

The Real Estate Team is a busy, successful and well-regarded group. The Team consists of ten partners and 20 fee earners spread across commercial, residential, rural, real estate disputes and construction practices. 

Our clients include entrepreneurs, investors, developers, landowners, borrowers, banks, funds, occupiers and charities.

We advise non-profit institutions including Great Ormond St Children's Charity and the Tate Gallery and act for 50% of the top 50 UK non-profit organisations.   In addition, we advise high-profile brands such as Soho House, MaxMara and Aston Martin Racing. 

The Role

The role is to work within the Real Estate Disputes team, reporting into the Head of Real Estate Disputes: Andrew Chesser.  

The work includes real property issues (contract disputes, covenants, easements, boundaries, sights of way and land registry matters), landlord and tenant (commercial and residential), development, with some elements of planning and compulsory purchase.

Much of what we do aids to avoid litigation, but we operate in the Courts and Tribunals and we are experienced at mediation.

Key skills and experience

  • Qualified in England and Wales
  • Solid grounding in land law/landlord and tenant/general real estate matters with experience in litigation
  • Be able to work as part of a cross-departmental team and have the ability to work on unfamiliar issues
  • Desire and ability to be involved in our business development initiatives.
  • Excellent academics and have gained the benefit of training in a well-regarded real estate department
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with technology e.g. excel, word

  • Core working hours: 9.30 – 5.30pm but flexibility is a must
  • Six-month probation period
  • 12-week notice period
