About Withers Intellectual Property Practice

Near the end of 2019, Withers expanded its intellectual property practice into Los Angeles with the addition of attorneys specializing in high-tech, fashion technology, and intellectual property for emerging and established companies in multiple consumer segments.

In April of 2021, the Firm further expanded its international Withers tech practice into Boston with the addition of a new team of emerging growth company attorneys specializing in life sciences, intellectual property and transatlantic venture capital.  The team represents start-up to late stage clients. We are now looking to hire ambitious candidates looking to help grow our tech and intellectual property focused legal practice on a national and international basis.

The Role

Candidates should have 4 to 6 years' experience with commercial agreements, technology transactions and intellectual property matters. Experience and interest in representing clients in the technology, consumer products, fashion and creative industries a plus.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Admitted to and in good standing with the California Bar
  • General understanding of trademark law, including procurement, searches and clearances, including domestic and international.  Able to conduct research and otherwise assist with contested and enforcement matters
  • General understanding of copyright law, including procurement.  Able to assist with research on contested and enforcement matters
  • General understanding of patent law.  A plus.
  • Have a broad array of commercial agreements with focus on those used in technology and consumer products focused businesses and/or creative businesses
  • General understanding of technology transactions, including license agreements, SaaS agreements, software license agreements, software development and other IT services agreements, non-disclosure agreements, cloud computing agreements, domain name transactions, technology, escrow, IP infringement notice letters
  • Experience with domain research, domain acquisition, and UDRP proceedings
  • Experience with social media enforcement, influencers, contests and sweepstakes and truth in advertising
  • Experience with data privacy and protection
