What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Financial Business Analyst to support the Business Reporting Manager during month/year end and the annual business planning cycle.  The chosen candidate will assist with enhancing the management reporting functionality provided to the divisions, provide financial analysis to management, as well as general support with project work. 

Areas of focus and responsibilities

  • Assisting the existing Financial Business Analyst and the Business Reporting Manager in the preparation of the annual budget and business plan
  • Assisting with month end reporting, including the preparation of the Performance Analysis (Division Performance model)
  • Assisting in further development/standardisation of monthly reporting to the divisions and supporting of the business in the same
  • Coordinating the production of monthly billing and collection targets and preparing a draft schedule for review
  • Ongoing reconciliation of our various sources of financial information
  • Maintenance of key master files in the accounting system (e.g. timekeeper profiles)
  • Assist with on-going finance projects which include input into and the delivery of 3E roadmap improvements for reporting and general systems integration
  • Assisting with the reconciliation of fee earner bonus targets on a monthly basis
  • Assisting with the preparation and analysis of various law firm financial surveys (e.g. PWC Annual Law Firm Comparison) and other benchmarking activities
  • Work with the Pricing team to develop standardised costs rates for Counsel/ Consultants
  • Assist with the provision of financial analysis for modelling team hires and restructuring proposals
  • Ad hoc projects and reports as required

Person Specification

  • Part qualified or working towards becoming a professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) accountant
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP/Reporting Standards and SAR
  • Highly PC literate. In particular highly-advanced Excel skills including macros
  • VBA and SQL skills would be useful
  • Previous experience with Elite 3E
  • Excellent people skills and a team working ethos
  • Ability to win the confidence and respect of Partners
  • The energy and enthusiasm to manage new initiatives, challenge the norm and strive towards excellent and innovation
  • The ability to stay calm and work under pressure whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • The ability to deliver a complete solution
  • A flexible approach to work with the ability to use your initiative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An organised approach to work which allows you to manager conflicting deadlines and priorities

The Essentials

  • 9.30am to 5.30pm but flexibility is a must
  • 12 week probation period
  • 12 weeks’ notice period
