What are we looking for?

The Finance Manager in Singapore is the primary focal point for all aspects of financial activities encompassing the office's finance operations and financial control.

This is a key role in the Singapore office and will work closely with the Head of Finance APAC, and the Financial Controller in Singapore. The Finance Manager will be responsible for the accurate reporting of financial results and compliance with regulations.

We are looking for candidates who are experienced and thrive working within a hands-on role. This role would suit a good communicator with high levels of interpersonal skills. You must be organised and accurate and have the ability to deal with a high volume of work, meeting deadlines under pressure. Experience in a professional services firm would be helpful.

 

Areas of focus and responsibilities

Finance Control

  • Act as the gatekeeper of the general ledger, journals and controls including management of the following core month end tasks
  • Accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and their respective postings and control schedules
  • Preparation of month end reports including responsible party reports, P&L variance and collation of bank reconciliations
  • Participation in the annual budgeting process
  • Management of audits and the preparation of local accounts and adherence to reporting timelines
  • Maintain relationships with the Firm's banking contacts and management of banking governance and cash-flow requirement

Finance Operations

  • Payroll, manage the monthly payroll function. manage payroll postings, Partner with the HR department on all related remuneration matters
  • Manage the accounts payable processes and team
  • act as a primary governor of postings and payment instructions

Tax 

  • Manage the direct and indirect tax submissions 
  • Partner with global tax team in London and external advisors to ensure compliance with the tax rules and reporting

This list of duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive.  It is intended to describe the initial priorities.  When there is capacity, elements of performance analysis, decision support and business planning will be included.  This trend will increase as initial objectives are met and the as the candidates grows in the role.  Key to success in this role will be the ability to refine our processes such that the majority of the financial control activity can be delegated to our Finance Operations team in Singapore.

 

Key Skills and Experience 

  • Professionally qualified accountant with minimum 5-year experience 
  • Experience in working within a legal or professional services environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and delegate to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Highly PC literate, especially Excel
  • Previous experience with Elite Enterprise and/or Elite 3E highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and high levels of interpersonal skills, demonstrate the ability to deal with difficult situations and of course, have the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal customers – notably Partners and Senior Support Managers clients – building confidence and respect
  • Organised and accurate - paying attention to detail
  • A flexible approach to work with the ability to use your initiative and be self-sufficient
  • An organised approach to work which allows you to manage conflicting deadlines and priorities
  • Risk management conscious, with the ability to make decisions independently and escalate matters where needed
  • Ability to deal with a high volume of work and work well under pressure
