About us

A law firm focused on people and collaboration. For the past 130 years, Withers has supported some of the world's most remarkable people and organisations at defining moments in their lives. We are the only international law firm focused on successful individuals and private capital, working closely with founders, investors and family offices. We also advise governments, charities, global brands and start-ups of all shapes and sizes. Many of our clients are shaping the future and creating solutions to tackle many of the world's problems.  It makes for a fascinating and challenging practice. Our role is to get to know each individual client, find out where they want to be, and help them to get there – whether they are building a business, looking after their family, involved in a complex dispute or protecting their finances for the future. To meet their unique needs we are exceptionally collaborative, working together across teams and time zones. We are agile, focusing on strategy rather than rigid ideas and traditional hierarchy. It is a truly flexible working culture that puts people first. Join us to be part of a team that is always looking to the future. Where initiative, big ideas and bold moves are always encouraged. Where you can truly be yourself.

 The Role

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of Administrative and Real Estate Law on complex and often international matters, assisting private investors, family offices, developers and investment funds with high-value acquisitions, development projects and strategic real estate investments.

This position offers exposure to a broad range of administrative and real estate matters, including:

  • Administrative and regulatory due diligence in connection with real estate acquisitions, developments and disposals.
  • Analysis of planning, zoning, building and environmental regulations.
  • Review of permits, licences, concessions and authorisations affecting real estate assets.
  • Assistance with urban planning and development projects, including hospitality, mixed-use and luxury real estate developments.
  • Advice relating to dealings with municipalities and other public authorities.
  • Support on public procurement, concession and other public law matters.

The Associate will also have the opportunity to support the wider Corporate team on selected civil and corporate matters, working within a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Italy qualified lawyer (Avvocato)
  • 2–3 years of post-qualification experience in Administrative Law.
  • Experience conducting administrative, planning and regulatory due diligence.
  • Experience advising on town-planning, permitting, concessions and real estate development matters.
  • Prior experience in public procurement matters would be advantageous.
  • Experience more broadly supporting corporate and commercial transactions would be considered an asset.
  • Fluent in Italian. Advanced English language skills (minimum C1 level), both written and spoken.
  • Excellent drafting and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work directly with clients and other advisers.
  • Enthusiastic and engaged attitude, with strong interpersonal skills and clear communication style.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, including with colleagues in overseas offices.
  • Solid IT skills (Word, Excel, and document management systems).

Why Withers?

At Withers, you will have the opportunity to work on some of Italy's most significant real estate and development projects, advising a sophisticated client base that includes international investors, family offices, developers, and investment funds.

You will collaborate with market-leading lawyers across practice areas, gaining exposure to complex and often cross-border matters while benefiting from early responsibility and direct client interaction.

We offer a supportive and entrepreneurial environment where talented lawyers are encouraged to develop their expertise, build lasting client relationships and play an active role in the continued growth of the practice.
